The Woman's Club is proud to have The Carole Stinson Foundation (CSLF) presenting an outstanding cultural event for literacy! Celebrate Carole's Portuguese Heritage with Food, a live Fado concert, & More! The event honors Portuguese culture and features Portuguese appetizers, wine, sweets, and a concert of traditional Portuguese fado music. The lead vocalist, Debora Rodrigues, is flying in from Lisbon for the occasion. She will be accompanied by three musicians playing Portuguese guitar, acoustic bass guitar, and classical guitar.
Proceeds from An Evening in Lisbon help the foundation provide grants for several Reach Out and Read sites in California, including Lucile Packard’s Gardner Health Clinic site in Redwood City. The Reach Out and Read program gives age-appropriate new books to children during their medical check-ups. Doctors use the books to determine developmental progress and to discuss the importance of reading. It is an impressive nationwide program providing books to 4.1 million children annually.
